About This Spot

Walking into the Slippery Otter Pub, you’re greeted by a warm, approachable vibe that effortlessly blends the charm of a local tavern with the comfort of a family-friendly restaurant. Nestled in the heart of West Yellowstone, this spot hums with an inviting energy—neither rushed nor too quiet—where both travelers and locals seem to find a familiar rhythm to settle into. The mix of hearty aromas and the gentle clink of glasses sets the tone for an experience that’s both relaxed and lively.

The atmosphere carries a subtle blend of rustic and classic pub elements, where the bar area nods to old-time Montana with its snug, cozy corners, while the dining space invites laughter and easy conversation around generous plates. Thoughtful touches, like the choice to avoid plastic straws in favor of caring for the surrounding forest, speak to the mindful spirit woven into the place’s character.

Here, the menu feels like a story told through approachable American flavors, effortlessly bridging the familiar with the unexpected. Imagine biting into a burger that carries the distinct taste of elk or lamb, accompanied by hand-cut fries that locals swear are worth the trip alone. Or savoring an elk burger, only to later mellow your palate with a homemade French onion soup or a freshly crafted beer flight. Unique snacks such as jalapeño poppers or spinach artichoke dip emerge like little discoveries, enhancing the sense of a thoughtfully curated pub experience.

The joy of dining at Slippery Otter goes beyond the food itself—there’s an undeniable warmth in the service that brings everything together. Servers bring genuine enthusiasm, making you feel seen and cared for without ceremony, while the bar offers up playful yet inventive drinks like a refreshing beer and lemonade combo or regional huckleberry sodas that celebrate local flavors.

What lingers after a visit is a feeling of ease—like stepping into a friend’s home where conversations flow, meals are shared, and the pace invites you simply to be present. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner after a day exploring Yellowstone or a lively night out with friends and family, the Slippery Otter Pub gently holds a space that’s authentically welcoming and distinctly rooted in its mountain town surroundings.

We always eat at Slippery Otter! The food is super delicious, always served hot with generous portions. They have the nicest servers and they aim to please! The bison burger my husband had was great and they have things on the menu for vegetarians like me! Don’t forget the cheesecake with huckleberry sauce.

Great hole in the wall in West Yellowstone. Burgers were great and the wings were done perfectly. But make sure that you get the hand cut fries they are to die for.

Omg! We had a blast here! Their food is so good. They also have a lot of fun and unique drinks. Our waiter was super energetic and seemed very passionate about his job. I would totally recommend checking this place out if you’re in west Yellowstone.

The bar side is cute, and old time looking. They don't do straws here to drink with, as they are trying to make sure that plastic stays out of the Forrest. Promt service too. Food was great we had bacon lovers burger, and a Greek salad.
